April 2018 Full Moon Animal Card Reading

blue morpho butterfly paintingIf you have been following my YouTube channel you’ll have noticed I’ve been experimenting with doing video readings from my spirit animal oracle card deck this month. The first couple were such fun I thought I’d keep going and do an animal card reading for this month’s full moon as well.

I’m noticing some patterns here with a couple of the animals from the new moon and 1st quarter readings showing up again – usually a sign to pay extra attention. 🙂 Plus Butterfly showed up in a very significant placement.

This is important because I’ve really been feeling for some time now that 2018 is the Year of the Butterfly (as you may remember from my New Year’s Butterfly vision workshop.)

So before we look at what Butterfly has to tell us right now, let’s take a step back for an overview:

butterfly2018: Year of the Butterfly

Collectively, the last couple years have been pretty energetically interesting to say the least. For many of us the first few months of 2018 were especially turbulent. My feeling is that we are experiencing this birthing of a new consciousness on the planet as Mother Earth ascends, and that 2018 in particular marks a real transition period.

If you’ve ever given birth you know transition can be pretty intense! But it also marks the beginning of a more active phase of labor. I’m anticipating that from this point forward, the ascension of the planet will accelerate. Here are a few things to expect over the next few months:

  • More people than ever will start to awaken spiritually
  • The awakening process will, on average, become faster and easier
  • The doors will open for more and more awakened souls to start stepping into their power. This could manifest in the areas of relationships, job/career/business, spiritual connection, etc.
  • However, it won’t necessarily all be love and light. Again, if you’ve given birth you know that transition gives way to crowning – so brace yourselves for more waves of intensity in the coming years!

Spirit Animal Message from Butterfly:

Clearly, there is a lot of action and hard work to look forward to. But in this month’s full moon animal card reading Butterfly is encouraging us to move into this new period of ascending energy with grace, making sure we are well prepared to play our parts.

When she climbs out of the cocoon she doesn’t rush off into the air right away. Instead she takes her time, allowing her wings to gain full strength before she takes flight.

The good news is, right now the energies feel aligned to give us a bit of a breather. So take advantage of it!

Be sure to find time this week to look inward, connect with your guides, tell your monkey mind to take a hike, and allow yourself to feel into what your best next steps might be.

And, if you like, tune in to this week’s spirit animal reading for guidance from Cat and Eagle on specific ways to do this.

Butterfly Power Animal Meaning: Transformation & Spiritual Awakening

"Blue Morpho" Butterfly Power Animal art

A few weeks back I offered to relay some insights into the spiritual meaning of Butterfly, and a bunch my followers said, “yes, please!” It took longer to put together than I had anticipated. But as it happens, the timing (I posted to YouTube just before the Winter Solstice) feels perfect.

I have to admit, the holiday season is not my favorite time of year. It’s dark, and where I live in the UP of Michigan it can get brutally cold. (For instance, I just got back from walking my dog in -10° weather – brrr!)

But what I do LOVE about it is the promise it brings: More Light and more Life about to enter the world!

Butterflies have a number of symbolic meanings. Chief among them is that of transformation.

And specifically, spiritual transformation—just like the Winter Solstice season!

And that is the aspect of Butterfly I was guided to focus on in this video. I won’t give it all away, except to say I’m not surprised it took Butterfly a while to come forward: a big part of her message is to bring awareness to the PROCESS of awakening as a progression that unfolds over time.

Because if you’re like me, it’s easy to get impatient. You have a vision, and you want it to happen NOW. And it gets frustrating when it doesn’t—especially when you work so hard to bring your dreams into fruition only to find yourself again and again seemingly back on square one and feeling like your life is just a series of startings-over.

The Butterfly animal guide reminds us that transformation happens in stages, and these stages take time.

Each stage also has its own lessons to learn. But, each stage prepares us for the next one, until eventually we really are able to joyously take flight on those beautiful wings we’ve worked so hard to grow.

If the Butterfly power animal resonates with you, and especially if you or others you know are on the verge of or in the midst of a spiritual transformation, I encourage you to take a listen. Butterfly is as wise as she is beautiful; I gained a lot of insight into the process of awakening and how to move through it with grace by listening to what she has to teach. I hope you do, too.

Enjoy, and if you like what you hear, be sure to like the video, share, and subscribe to my channel!

Much love, many blessings, and have a happy and blessed Yule!

Christie

P.S. Just a heads up: Butterfly had so much to say that the video ended up a bit on the long side: a little over 30 minutes. Please don’t let that stop you, or feel time pressured. Your heart will tell you if you’re meant to hear the whole thing (and there is a LOT of juicy stuff in there!) If you are, just pull it up on your phone and listen in while you’re doing something else like your daily walk or doing the dishes. Even if you get distracted and have to run through it a few times, the parts you’re meant to hear will eventually sink in, effortlessly and without costing you any extra time.
P. P.S. The spiritual meaning of Butterfly also includes Vision, Freedom, and Joy. Just for fun, I’ll be doing a FREE teleseminar this Thursday called “Creating Your Butterfly Vision for Lasting Transformation in 2018.” You are totally invited! Just sign up to my newsletter before 1:00 PM on Dec. 28, 2017 and keep an eye out for login instructions.

Lucky girl. Archangel Michael’s got her back…

Lilah angelI first started being aware of angels when I started doing chakra energy scans for people. They often show up for me in people’s chakras.

Lately I’ve been doing guardian angel art readings, but this latest is a bit of a variation. I love doing portraits of children, and decided for this one to tune in to Lilah’s guardian angel and include the angel, too.

In this case, looks like Archangel Michael also has her back!

Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed painting it.

P.S. I’m guessing an angel portrait would make an awesome Christmas gift. If you’d like more information about that, or to request a free 15 minute energy scan, just let me know! 🙂

Butterfly Power (A Little Known Butterfly Spirit Meaning)

Just had to share something that came through the other day during the Spirit Animal class I just finished teaching.

We were doing an exercise on shapeshifting and one of my students experienced herself as a butterfly. She found herself noticing that butterflies don’t see the way we do.

A Little Known Spirit Meaning of Butterfly

Butterflies are insects, so of course they have compound eyes. That means, in effect, that they see in all directions at once – indeed an animal super power!
You are probably already familiar with the Butterfly as a symbol of transformation. But if you resonate with Butterfly energy, you might also want to explore this animal totem as it relates to vision.
Butterfly can remind us to look at things from multiple angles to get a higher perspective. Or it can be a symbol of the unity of life – how all things, and all experiences – past, present and future (represented by the butterfly being able to see forwards, backwards and sideways all at the same time) – are ultimately one.
I’ve never seen this Butterfly spirit insight written anywhere, but it feels right. Just one example of how working with your spirit animal directly can deepen your understanding of your totem.
I’m gearing up to start another session of my online class sometime in early to mid October. Details forthcoming! If you’re interested in learning more about how to work with spirit animals, shoot me a reply, and I’ll be sure to notify you directly.

Tiger Swallowtail totem animal meaning

New painting! 🙂

Tiger Swallowtail copyright 2015 by Christie (Anne) Michelsen

Tiger Swallowtail

Tiger, tiger in the sky

Flashing gold, you soar and fly

Sudden flutter softly by

Sweet and fleeting butterfly!

Butterfly symbolic meanings: Inspiration, intuition, higher consciousness, transformation, resurrection, flashes of insight, power of beauty, strength in vulnerability.

Specific butterfly species may carry additional meanings. Here are my thoughts on the Tiger Swallowtail:

Tiger Swallowtail Totem: Integrating One’s Power

Did you know that the Tiger Swallowtail has two color morphs, black and yellow? I didn’t know until recently that all males are yellow – only the females sometimes appear in black form. Also, only the females (of both color morphs) sport the beautiful silvery blue crescents on the bottom edge of their back wings.

It speaks to me of the special connection women have with the moon. And whether you’re a man or a woman, the ability to balance and honor both the solar (masculine, proactive) and lunar (feminine, intuitive) aspects of your inner being.

Yellow. The color of the sun. Warmth, light, vitality, action! Yellow is also the color most associated with the Solar Plexus Chakra, the power center of the body.

Black. The color of night. Rest, dreams, that which is hidden. This is the realm of intuition, and regeneration.

With its vivid black and yellow stripes and dots, the Tiger Swallowtail speaks to us of integrating these two aspects of our selves. Black on yellow, yellow on black, rhythmically interspersed with each other.

This is the rhythm of the universe. Day, night. Inbreath, outbreath. Wake and sleep.

Traditional cultures honor this rhythm. They set aside time to rest, time to pray, time to heal.

Our society tends to put a premium on action, at the expense of rest. It’s a 24/7 world now, and many of us push ourselves ruthlessly to keep up.

Do you find yourself running on caffiene-laced fumes? Routinely pushing through to find your second wind?

It’s good to test our limits once in a while, but we weren’t made to do it day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year. We think it’s a sign of strength. But sooner or later people who do this hit the wall. Burnout. Adrenal exhaustion.

Tiger Swallowtail reminds us to honor our natural rhythms.

Feeling blue, or in a black mood, is often just our body telling us to take it easy for a bit. If you find yourself feeling tired, cranky or sad, give yourself permission to let down for a while. Schedule “down time” into your calendar. Take an hour or a day or a week off if you need it.

No offense to men, but I think women have to be especially aware of our body’s need for rest at certain times. By honoring it, we honor ourselves.Yes, it means acknowledging that we are vulnerable.

But when we embrace that vulnerable side of ourselves, love it, and give it what it needs…

Wow! That’s allowing ourselves to tap deeply into our power to revitalize our lives…so we can take wing as the beautiful souls we truly are.
